Involved in customer projects right from the start

Jens Habermann about his start at BusinessCode

Since the 15. of January I am part of the team at BusinessCode – and that in the truest sense of the word, because I was not only involved in customer projects from the beginning, but I also directly became a permanent part of the team.

And this even though I have only met most of them on screen or by phone so far. Because of the current situation, the training at BusinessCode is completely digital – “Hybrid work made by BusinessCode” is the name of the concept.

I am a bachelor student in the field of computer science with a focus on “complex software systems”. Due to my studies at the University of Applied Sciences Bonn/Rhein-Sieg and my last internship at SER Technology, I was used to work from home only occasionally. The complete training and working from home were new for me.

And the concept works great! I came to BusinessCode through a fellow student who is already working here as a student assistant. I applied in October 2020, and the interviews were conducted entirely via video chats. At the time, I was surprised, but I quickly realized that the familiarization process went very well, even from home. The team was and is there for you, so codes are explained and tools are presented via video chats. If you have problems or questions, you simply call one of your colleagues. That’s how I quickly started working on my own projects, such as revising a build script.

The projects I am working on are partly based on the decades of experience and know-how of my colleagues. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, you also take on direct responsibility here.

Now, my field of work at BusinessCode is the development and modernization of the build environment for a customer project as well as the reengineering of classes. I’m looking forward to more projects and tasks and to further collaboration – be it in the office or from home. Because communication and feedback at BusinessCode also work excellently at a distance and in online conferences.
