Security-related aspects of software development

In software development, security is a topic of paramount importance. To delve deeper into this area, two students from the University of Bonn have set up a project group and involved BusinessCode.

The two dedicated students are focusing on security-related aspects of software development and the behaviour of developers. Through interviews with experts, in particular software developers from Bonn, they want to gain valuable insights for the project group they have started as part of their Master’s thesis.

The project group conducts numerous interviews as part of its research, and this includes BusinessCode. Our IT company was chosen as a promising interview partner due to its reputation and expertise in software development. The students therefore conducted short but insightful interviews with BusinessCode employees.

The interviews took place in January this year and lasted around 5-10 minutes per participant. The location of the interviews was deliberately chosen: The premises of BusinessCode in Bonn. Here, the students wanted to create an open and relaxed interview atmosphere in order to gain the most authentic insights possible.

The participation of BusinessCode employees in the interviews was voluntary. The students are convinced that the insights and experiences can make a valuable contribution to their research. The information collected will of course be treated confidentially in order to protect the privacy of the participants and safeguard sensitive company data.

While the results of the interviews still need to be analysed, it is already clear that the cooperation with BusinessCode plays an important role in the students’ research. The findings from the interviews will help to gain a better understanding of security-relevant aspects of software development and possibly identify new approaches to improving practices in this area.

Overall, this project emphasises the importance of close cooperation between educational institutions and industry. By sharing knowledge and experience, progress can be made and new solutions developed that ultimately benefit everyone involved.
