Mastering the Challenges of Digitalization

Bonn, March 15, 2023 - The event starts on April 26, 2023, at 6:00 PM sharp at the Stadtmuseum Siegburg. The program features concise presentations on digitalization in SMEs and attractive funding opportunities. The event is organized in cooperation with the Economic Development Office of Siegburg. The professional presentations will be opened by Stefan Maier, Managing Director of Prior1 GmbH, who will speak on “Sustainable Business Management in Challenging Times.” This will be followed by lawyer Dr. Schulte-Beckhausen presenting a practical project: “Custom Software for Digitalizing Insolvency Law Processes.” Then, Martin Schulze, CEO of BusinessCode GmbH, will take the stage with his topic: “Successful Digitalization – Finding the Right Solution.” The event will conclude with Christian Pinnekamp from the IHK Bonn/Rhein-Sieg, who will present current funding programs for SME digitalization.
Current surveys, such as the one by DIHK (Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry), show that digitalization implementation still faces challenges. The 4,000 companies surveyed cited lack of time and high costs as the main reasons. To provide support in this area, the BVMW has reached out to digitalization professionals and initiated this event format.
“We want to inform and educate together with our partners. Many companies hesitate to invest in digitalization because they don’t know what to expect,” explains Dagmar Mayer, who is managing the event on behalf of BVMW.
“In our discussions, we repeatedly notice that companies tend to opt for standard solutions because they believe they are more cost-effective. They only realize that this is not the case when the solution has been implemented and fails to meet their expectations,” explains Martin Schulze, CEO of BusinessCode. To assist in the decision-making process, Schulze has compiled a checklist of requirements that should be considered when purchasing software.
The professional presentations are complemented by information about funding programs and funding pots. 2023 could be called the year of digitalization funding, as there are numerous programs specifically designed for small and medium-sized enterprises. Christian Pinnekamp will present these on behalf of the IHK (Chamber of Commerce and Industry).
